Summer 2023 Guide to Visiting the Hamptons

Summer is the perfect time to visit the Hamptons, and this year is no exception. Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or staying for the whole summer, there’s no shortage of events to choose from, destinations to explore and things to do.
Here’s what to check out for summer 2023:

Events

During the summer season, you’ll find interesting events happening almost every day throughout the Hamptons. Here are just a few noteworthy dates to put in your calendar:

  • Palm Tree Music Festival, June 24 – Westhampton: Kick off summer with this “tropical-inspired intimate festival experience” that will feature performances by Calvin Harris, Kygo and more.
  • Amagansett Fine Arts Festival, July 22-23 – Amagansett: This is one of several popular art shows in the Hamptons. Free and open to the public, it features work by some of the most renowned exhibitors in the United States, in addition to local artists.
  • The Beach Boys, July 30 – Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center: Westhampton brings big-name artists to its Performing Arts Center every summer. On July 30, the Beach Boys bring their iconic songs to the main stage. (Not your thing? Check out the many other performers coming to the center this summer.)
  • Hamptons Fashion Week, Aug. 25-27 – Southampton: Fashion lovers will enjoy this 3-day event featuring world-renowned designers, runway shows, presentations, pop-up shops, parties and more.
  • The Hampton Classic Horse Show, Aug. 27 to Sept. 3 – Bridgehampton: This is one of the most prestigious events in the Hamptons, known for its world-class jumping competitions, celebrity sightings and boutique shopping. Don’t worry: you don’t have to be a horse lover to have an amazing experience at this grand event!

Things to Do

Aside from the big summer events, the Hamptons offer endless activities and things to do, every day of the week. Some of the most popular options include:

Wine Tours

Along with the North Fork, the Hamptons has more than 4 dozen wineries and vineyards. Many are located within short driving distance from each other, making it easy to visit several locations in a single day or evening. Consider using our Hamptons car service for guided wine tours , so that you don’t have to do any driving yourself.

Village shopping & dining

One of the best ways to explore the Hamptons is to simply stroll the charming villages. You’ll find a wide assortment of boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries in Southampton, East Hampton, Sag Harbor and Bridgehampton.

Historic Sites

Explore the Hamptons’ rich history at Southampton Historical Museum, Sag Harbor Whaling Museum or the East Hampton Marine Museum.

Water activities

For a little fun and adventure on the water, consider going kayaking in the harbors, paddleboarding on the bay, renting a jet ski or taking a relaxing fishing trip.

Beaches

Let’s face it – the beaches are always a main reason to visit the Hamptons. There are so many stunning locations to choose from, featuring pristine white sand and gorgeous views of the ocean and bays. Some beaches are more secluded than others and tend to require town permits. But there are several popular destinations that are open to the public and family-friendly.

Here are a few options to consider:

  • East Hampton Main Beach: One of the top-rated beaches in the United States. Features a snack bar, bathrooms and lifeguards.
  • Coopers Beach, Southampton: Features a concession stand, fresh water showers, lifeguards and bathrooms.
  • Atlantic Avenue Beach, Amagansett: On-duty lifeguards, snack stand, restrooms and daily beach parking.
  • Foster Memorial Beach (Long Beach), Sag Harbor: Slightly pebbly but a popular 1-mile beach along the Noyac Bay. Family-friend and dog-friendly. Features showers and restrooms.
