5 Must-Visit Hamptons Destinations: for Fall 2023
For many, the Hamptons is primarily known as a summer destination, but the fall season is another excellent time to visit. As the temperatures drop and the summer crowds depart, it’s the perfect time to explore the area’s scenic destinations, boutique shops, restaurants and historic sites.

1) Fall foliage at Cedar Point County Park, East Hampton
If you come at the right time, you can experience stunning fall colors nearly anywhere on Long Island. But one place to see it upclose is Cedar Point County Park in East Hampton. The park is also famed for its decommissioned Cedar Island Lighthouse.
Peak fall foliage on Long Island is usually the first week or two of November, so that’s a great time to visit if you want to see the colors at their most brilliant. Wölffer Estate’s Harvest Party has become a fall tradition for Hamptons visitors and locals alike. Now in its 33rd year, the event is a celebration of the fall harvest with delicious food, live music and fun activities for all ages, including pony rides for the little ones. And of courseyou’ll also have plenty of opportunities to enjoy Wölffer’sesteemed wines and ciders.
This year’s harvest party is slated for October 7, 2023 (Rain Date Oct. 8) from noon – 4:00pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance on Wölffer’s website.
3) North & South Fork Wine Tours
Fall is a popular time to explore the many vineyards and wineries throughout the Hamptons and the nearby North Fork of Long Island. The cool temperatures provide the perfect atmosphere for outdoor wine tastings, live music and conversation.
Guided winery tours allow you to visit multiple spots without having to do any driving yourself. It’s a safer, more comfortable way to travel. And since many wineries are located within short distance from each other, it’s easy to hop from spot to spot in just one evening.
In the Hamptons, some of the biggest wineries include Wölffer, Duck Walk and Channing Daughters. In the North Fork, you’ll find more than two dozen wineries, including Paumanok, Jamesport and Macari, just to name a few.
4) Little Lucy’s Halloween Pet Parade, Southampton
If you’re looking for more family-friendly fall activities in the Hamptons, then you don’t want to miss this fur-tastic annual event in Southampton. Little Lucy’s Halloween Pet Parade is a 20+ year tradition that features live music, food, raffles and a parade of dogs donning adorable costumes.
This year’s parade benefits the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation. It takes place Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Agawam Park in Southampton. Prizes will be awarded to the best costumes. In previous years, the event has also featured celebrity judges.
5) Hamptons International Film Festival
Now in its 31st year, the venues a world-renowned event that showcases works by filmmakers around the globe. Screenings and events take place at multiple Hamptons International Film Festival in East Hampton, Southampton and Sag Harbor between October 5-12, 2023.
This year’s high-profile “centerpiece film” is “In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon” by Academy Award-winning director Alex Gibney. Other featured films include “NYAD,” starring Annette Bening and Jodie Foster; “Wilding” by director David Allen, and “Dream Scenario,” starring Nicolas Cage. In total, the festival will screen more than 120 feature-length and short films. Visitors can purchase individual tickets or a variety ofpasses/packages for access to multiple screenings.
