Eastern Long Island is home to some of the most renowned wineries in the United States. But if you’re unfamiliar with the area, it can be a little overwhelming to decide which vineyards to visit. After all, there are more than 50 excellent wineries situated across the East End of Suffolk County. And while you can’t go wrong with any of them, each location offers its own unique charm and character.
In this post, we’ll be focusing specifically on three wineries on the South Fork, a.k.a. the Hamptons.
When people talk about Long Island wine tours or the “wine trail,” they’re often referring to wineries on the North Fork. That’s because there are dozens of vineyards situated close together, particularly along Route 25. This allows visitors to explore multiple locations in one outing, hopping from one vineyard to the next (safely and comfortably, of course, in one of our chauffeured luxury vehicles at Jackrabbit Limo).
But the North Fork is not the Hamptons.
If you’re looking for the full Hamptons experience this spring – not just the incredible vineyards, but also world-class dining, boutique shopping, beaches, celebrity sightings and more – then you’ll want to head to the South Fork.

Wölffer Estate is the most popular winery in the Hamptons and for good reason. Founded in 1988, it is the true gem of the Hamptons, offering rolling vineyards, charming ambiance, live music and of course exceptional wines. Visitors can indulge in a variety of styles, which are made entirely at Wölffer’s stunning 55-acre estate, including elegant merlots, pinot noirs, vibrant rosés and more. Springtime is the perfect time to visit as temperatures warm up (perfect for enjoying the outdoor seating) and the lush green color returns to the vineyards.

Duck Walk Vineyards is another iconic Hamptons winery established in 1994 (with a sister location on the North Fork, which opened in 2007). The vineyard is renowned for its picturesque landscapes and award-winning wines, including cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay, merlot and pinot noir, just to name a few. But one of the standout features is the 11,000 square-foot Chateau-style building, which is nestled among Duck Walk’s 30 acres of grapevines.

Bridgehampton
Channing Daughters is another popular destination known for its rustic charm, bucolic views and rich history. This estate actually consists of six vineyards on a farm in Bridgehampton, with the first acre of vines planted in 1982 by Walter Channing. In the decades since, the estate has continued to expand and experiment with unique grape varieties that are not as common at other Hamptons wineries. In addition to staples like sauvignon blanc and pinot grigio, Channing Daughters has also produced unique blends that incorporate grapes like muscat ottonel, malvasia and blaufränkisch. This makes Channing Daughters a great spot for wine aficionados, in addition to casual enthusiasts.
