Insider's Guide to Airports in the Hamptons

Planning your next escape to the Hamptons? Flying privately is the most seamless way to travel directly to the Hamptons, rather than landing at JFK, LaGuardia or MacArthur/Islip. But landing in the Hamptons isn’t as simple as just booking a flight on Expedia. Each airport, FBO and heliport has its own unique set of rules, restrictions and services.

There has been significant confusion in recent years, especially regarding the changing rules at the East Hampton Airport. Is it private? Is it public? Do you need your own plane, or can you take a charter?

We’ve created this definitive, up-to-date guide to airports in the Hamptons, so you can plan your flight with confidence. And once you’re on the ground, Jackrabbit Limo will be there, waiting to complete your journey.

Francis S. Gabreski Airport (FOK) - Westhampton Beach

Gabreski airport in Westhampton is often considered the most versatile and full-service airport for private travelers to the Hamptons.

WEsthampton Airport

1. Airport IATA Code: FOK

2. Airport ICAO Code: KFOK

3. Who Can Fly In:

Open to all. This is a public-use, county-owned airport with no “prior permission required” (PPR) restrictions for domestic flights. It can accommodate everything from single-engine pistons to the largest Gulfstream and Global Express jets thanks to its 9,000-foot runway.

3. How to Get a Flight:

Virtually any private jet charter company (such as Tradewind Aviation, Paramount Business Jets, Mercury Jets, etc.) can book flights to FOK from anywhere in the world. Shared flights are also available from companies like BLADE, which also offers full-plane jet and turboprop charters year-round.

4. Current Restrictions & Advisories:

  • Curfew: There is a voluntary curfew from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM to minimize noise.
  • Customs: FOK has U.S. Customs and Border Protection. This is an advantage for clients arriving directly from international destinations (e.g., the Caribbean). Arrangements must be made 24 hours in advance.
  • Services: This airport features two full-service FBOs (Fixed-Base Operators), Modern Aviation and Signature Aviation, offering fuel, de-icing and heated hangar space—a key consideration for winter.

5. Westhampton airport car service:

Jackrabbit Limo is on call for luxury black car & limo service to/from Gabreski/Westhampton airport. Whether you’re flying in on a Global 6000 or a light jet, your Jackrabbit chauffeur will be waiting the moment you deplane, ready to help with your luggage and transport you to any Hamptons destination, from Southampton to Montauk – and beyond.

East Hampton Airport 2

East Hampton Airport (HTO / KJPX) - Wainscott

East Hampton Airport is another long-time favorite option for private flights to the Hamptons, as the location is preferred by summer travelers who are traveling to the village of East Hampton, Sag Harbor or Bridgehampton. However, recent changes at the airport have led to some confusion. Here’s what you need to know.

1. Airport IATA Code: HTO

2. Airport ICAO Code: KJPX (formerly KHTO)

3. Who Can Fly In:

Open to all. After a long legal battle, the attempt to turn KJPX into a “private, prior-permission” airport failed. As of 2025, it is officially designated by the FAA as a public-use airport.

3. How to Get a Flight:

Full-plane charters available year-round from providers like Tradewind Aviation, BLADE or Zip Aviation. Shared flights to East Hampton Airport are also available primarily via BLADE during the summer season. In the off-season, an “on-demand” charter is generally required.

4. Current Restrictions & Advisories:

  • PPR/Bans: There are NO mandatory curfews, jet bans or “prior permission required” (PPR) rules in effect. Reports from previous years about these restrictions are outdated.
  • Noise Abatement: Access is protected, but noise is an ongoing issue among local residents. The airport operates under strict (but voluntary) noise-abatement procedures. Pilots are strongly urged to follow specific helicopter routes and quiet-flying protocols.
  • Services: Services are more limited than at FOK, but the airport is fully operational for both propeller aircraft and jets.

5. East Hampton Airport car service:

Our chauffeurs at Jackrabbit Limo ensure there is no gap in your luxury travel to/from East Hampton Airport. We monitor your flight’s arrival and will be at the FBO waiting, even if you arrive ahead of schedule.

Montauk Airport (MTP)

Located at the eastern tip of Long Island, Montauk Airport is as convenient as it is unique.

1. Airport IATA Code: MTP

2. Airport ICAO Code: KMTP

3. Who Can Fly In:

This is a privately owned, public-use airport. It is open to propeller aircraft and helicopters.

4. How to Get a Flight:

You can charter a turboprop (like a Pilatus PC-12) or helicopter from various operators, including BLADE (note: scheduled service is generally seasonal).

5. Current Restrictions & Advisories:

  • Jets: All jets require prior permission (PPR) from airport management before landing. This is not guaranteed and is approved on a case-by-case basis.
  • Runway: The runway is short (approx. 3,200 feet). This physically restricts the airport to lighter aircraft and helicopters. It is not suitable for mid-size or large-cabin jets.
  • Services: Services are basic. This is a true “fly-in” destination.

6. Montauk airport car service:

Jackrabbit Limo is the premier transportation provider for travel to and from Montauk airport. Reserve your chauffeured vehicle now to make your travel seamless and comfortable.

Southampton Heliport (87N)

For the fastest possible trip from Manhattan or other regional locations, the Southampton heliport is in a class of its own.

1. FAA Location Identifier: 87N

2. Who Can Fly In:

Helicopters only. This is a public-use heliport.

3. How to Get a Flight:

This destination is exclusively for helicopters. You can book a private helicopter year-round from companies like HeliFlite, Zip Aviation and BLADE.

4. Current Restrictions & Advisories:

  • Strict Hours: This is the most important restriction. For November and December, the heliport operates only from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • No Night Ops: The heliport is closed at night. All operations must cease by 4:00 PM.
  • Noise: This is an extremely noise-sensitive area. Pilots must adhere to all published noise-abatement procedures.

5. Southampton helipad car service:

A helicopter flight is all about convenience (and time savings). Your ground transportation must match that efficiency. Your pre-arranged Jackrabbit sedan, SUV or sprinter will be waiting for your arrival, ensuring your journey is swift, seamless and safe.
