However, it is a relatively small airport, primarily serving as a small hub for Southwest Airlines, Frontier and Breeze Airways.
If you’re comparing flights for travel to/from the Hamptons, keep in mind that Islip handles only a limited number of flights per day. While it is closer to the Hamptons than JFK or LaGuardia, the limited number of flights can add unnecessary delays to your travel unless you have non-stop flights via Southwest or Frontier. For most other flights and airlines, it is faster and more efficient to use a car service to/from JFK or LGA, even when factoring in the extra driving time.
